You recently reported that both Mayor Teunis Westbroek and Coun. Mary Brouilette felt that recovery from the malfunction of the Qualicum Beach council has begun.
In your issue of May 2 your front-page story is yet another diatribe from Coun. Dave Willie, denigrating the mayor (and Coun. Tanner) and insulting the Qualicum Beach Residents Association (and by association the large number of citizens who sympathise with its views).
Some recovery. It’s the same old, same old. It’s the Willie way or the highway. Eighteen months of this malicious heckling is more than enough.
We are constrained to the point where we can merely ask Coun. Willie to do the honourable thing and resign.
He could then deliver his vitriolic contributions to town affairs, just as the rest of us do, without destroying the town’s peace and harmony.
