My Indian name is See-wit and my English name is Doug Reid. I am a traditional hunter and gatherer from Qualicum First Nation. I am very distressed to see that there was such a limited amount of people making the decision on the sewage outfall at Nile Creek.
This will have such a far-reaching effect on so many people, especially those that gather food from the shores and the sea in my traditional territory. I have gathered shellfish my whole life from Lantzville to Comox, not only for myself but for my Elders and family.
I believe that there needs to be more opportunity for more people to discuss the potential consequences to allowing this outfall to be situated at Nile Creek
