LETTER: Liberals shun both speaker and his constituents

Who does an MLA represent, his constituents or the party?

Who does an MLA represent, his constituents or the party?

Liberal Party MLA Darryl Plecas was appointed Speaker of the House, a position of honour and respect, by the NDP and Green Party.

Does his expulsion from the Liberal Party illustrate disrespect and disregard for his electors? Is following party lines more important than representing his voters with honour, respect and prestige?

The Liberals argue they and the NDP were each left with 41 seats after his appointment. Although he had a deciding vote in the event of a tie, he was still a Liberal — but not now. Does this further illustrate the short-sightedness and power hunger of the Liberals?
