Thank you so much for the informative article titled ‘The effects of ‘housing first’ and the plan for Corfield” in the Aug. 19 edition.

We are fairly new to this community and have only heard frightening descriptions of what this proposed housing will be and will bring to Parksville.

Mostly it’s been described as a “wet housing project,” as though the addicts and homeless were being set up to happily do drugs and get a free place to live.

Your article clarified this for me and it seems like a sensible and much needed dwelling place for those that are struggling. It seems also they will receive support and encouragement and be supervised.

Towns and cities throughout the province are having to deal with this crisis and are acting to provide assistance to those in need. We all have to get a little uncomfortable in order to help.

These people, of all ages, are already here and like other communities, we have an opportunity to leave a better world to our grandchildren by facing this concerning situation head on.
