LETTER: What makes Parksville’s gas so valuable?

Our family just returned from a five-week, 10,000-km road trip to Ontario and I thought our readers might like to compare gasoline prices (regular grade) found along the way:

Our family just returned from a five-week, 10,000-km road trip to Ontario and I thought our readers might like to compare gasoline prices (regular grade) found along the way:

Chilliwack, July 20: $1.169

Castlegar, July 21: $1.117

Lethbridge, Alta., July 22: $0.954

Moose Jaw, Sask., July 22: $0.919

Moosomin, Sask., July 23: $0.959

Falcon Beach, Man., July 24: $0.909

Sault Ste Marie, Ont., July 25: $1.149

Deep River, Ont., July 26: $1.019

Almonte, Ont., July 31: $0.999

Parry Sound, Ont., Aug. 18: $1.119

Parksville, Aug. 25: $1.339

Perhaps the oil companies would explain why gas is 20 to 40 cents a litre more expensive here than in the rest of Canada?
