Not impressed

I attended the Ermineskin Tribal Enterprises’ open house at the civic centre and picked up their letter demanding the city support their application to the Agricultural Land Commission.

They want  their property excluded from the Agricultural Land Reserve so that they can develop a portion of it for a residential subdivision. If the support they seek is not forthcoming, they promise to “explore options for allowable (agricultural) use under the ALR designation on our property next to the Springwood wells” knowing full well residents’ concerns about our water supply.

This is clearly a tactic that is inappropriate for an organization that professes “respect and goodwill toward the community and city.”

A sign of goodwill would instead be to open negotiations for the sale of the property to the city. Perhaps the Ermineskin Band would be so kind as to practice what they preach instead of making comments that anger residents and are counter-productive to their objectives.
