Oceanside residents help out

Salvation Army couldn't do it alone

ave wonderful support from the Oceanside communities helping us to help our citizens in need.

During the Christmas season, many fellow citizens supported our mission to help people in less fortunate circumstances, either by direct donations of food and cash or by buying grocery bags for us.

Just last week, we received almost $15,000 in gift certificates from Thrifty’s donated by their customers during the month of December. This gives us the opportunity to buy food we are short of.

Panago recently donated 100 coupons for free pizzas. Our clients were pleasantly surprised to receive such a coupon, especially those with children.

Our statistics tell us that we have a client base of approximately 400 families, up 100 families from a year before. They represent over 800 people who are receiving a supply of about one week of food. Our soup kitchen serves an average of about 140 people three times a week. This amounts to approximately 1,700 meals per month (including Sally Ann second helpings).

The generous support of the Oceanside community enables us to help in such a way.

On behalf of those who are benefiting from their generosity, we are very thankful

some people tell us that without this ministry of The Salvation Army, they would sometimes go to bed hungry,

For us it is an encouragement and a blessing to be able to rely on the citizens of the communities of Parksville and Qualicum Beach to help our fellow citizens.

We are proud to be a part of the communities of Oceanside.
