Passing the torch in Nanoose Bay

Broom cutting in Nanoose Bay area continues with new groups

Someone is steadily and thoroughly clearing the Scotch broom along Northwest Bay Road, and it is very impressive.

I want to thank them.

I took on this part of Nanoose Bay a few years ago with a group of teenagers from Oceanside, but alas, they have grown up and moved to Vancouver, Victoria and Montreal, as young adults naturally do for work and study and travel.

It is good to see someone else in our community going over the same terrain, maintaining it broom free, cutting the broom in bloom.

I really appreciate that our work was not

in vain. Every time a team of us take on the broom, there is much less, even a few years later.

The broom that grows back is smaller and billions of seeds have not formed and spread.
