Rotary clubs seek funds for good works

Each of the four clubs in Qualicum Beach and Parksville invest many hours in projects to raise money for worthwhile local endeavours.

This is the time of year when Rotary clubs in this community seek funds for the work which they undertake in this community. Each of the four clubs in Qualicum Beach and Parksville invest many hours in projects to raise money for worthwhile local endeavours.

On March 22 the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach Sunrise, which meets for breakfast on Tuesdays, is offering their annual Spring Ball at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre. This is an evening of dining and dancing, with an auction to raise funds for the work of the club. The major projects which are supported by the funds raised include donations to Oceanside Hospice Society and Arrowsmith Search and Rescue.

On March 29, the Rotary Club of Parksville AM, which meets Wednesday morning is holding their “Taste of Oceanside” at the Community and Conference Centre in Parksville. This event features tasty items from the restaurants and eateries in the area. From past fundraising events this club has supported many local endeavours including the establishment of the Parksville Community and Conference Centre.

April 5, the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach is hosting the 12th annual Wine Festival at the Civic Centre in Qualicum Beach. This event has been known as “ the best little annual wine festival in British Columbia”, and the ticket price includes wine tasting for the evening and delicious hors d’oeuvres. The Rotary club has continually supported the Qualicum Beach Youth Fire Camp and club funds raised have also gone to KSS scholarships.

May 17 the Rotary Club of Parksville, which meets at noon on Mondays, will host the Mosaic Youth Talent Showcase at Knox United Church. Youth with an interest in showcasing their talents in the areas of dance, painting, fashion and music should email:  bethmarieanderson@gmail.com
