Save the rails

I am surprised at the amount of coverage given to the faction that sees a single use for the rail corridor on Vancouver Island.

I am surprised at the amount of coverage given to the faction that sees a single use for the rail corridor on Vancouver Island.

As seen in Nanaimo, the rail line and cycle and foot paths are quite compatible, and also evident along the expressway where there is room for both road and trails. The rest of the world is increasing the use of trains to move heavy and hazardous materials.

Vancouver Island would benefit from the same separation of materials as well as big savings on highway maintenance. A local management, to direct and grow both freight and passengers traffic, would be vastly superior to one located in a basement in New Brunswick as is now the case.

We need politicians capable of looking forward to build a stronger future, not ones looking back.
