Solidarity needed more than ever

Unions are still important

Thank you for printing the letter from Liz Roy (The News, April 1). I found that her point of view gave me a different perspective on the hand basket that we are all going to hell in.

In this day and age, as the wealthy get wealthier, even the rich are getting poorer. Is it any wonder that so many people are seeking stability and security in their lives?

The unions were created more for the prevention of abuse than for anything else. They found that through solidarity, they could beat back the corporate bullies and stop the victimization so rampant at the end of the 19th century.  As our rights  and freedoms are now being eroded, we need our solidarity more than ever.
