About four years ago, the people of District 69 were struggling with how to get a health centre to happen.
The history actually goes back more than 20 years.
I was part of the Tom Davies’ FORA group, and we had talked about the idea of petitions.
Actually, going back further, I had spoken with Mayor Teunis Westbroek about the difficulty we were having to get this going, and he suggested “how about getting together some signatures on petitions?”
I brought that forward to the Tom’s group and it was heartily accepted.
Then there was a public forum held at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre and I brought along nearly 2,000 signatures.
I was privileged to be asked by Cantelon and the FORA group to bring our petition signatures, now totaling 6,000, to Victoria.
MLA Ron Cantelon was our champion. Thank you Ron, for your determination, steadfastness and big heart to finish the race.
