I had the pleasure of coaching my HCFC U11 boys soccer team in a tournament this past weekend in Parksville.
Organized by the Oceanside Youth Soccer Club, our boys played some excellent games. It was amazing how the referee put the ball on the centre mark and a bunch of kids simply went out and played the “beautiful game.”
Our children did not gather around the centre circle, discuss “philosophical differences” then decide not to play. They just played. They did not discuss how Oceanside might train differently than HCFC and then decide not to play. They just played.
It’s a shame that next year we won’t be playing against many of these teams due to “philosophical” differences between a bunch of adults.
