Threatening scam

Thanks to The NEWS for keeping us informed about this CRA scam that does not seem to go away.

Thanks to The NEWS for keeping us informed about this CRA scam that does not seem to go away.

Friday afternoon I received such a message. It is interesting to note that the call display number on the machine did not match the phone number left by the rather threatening caller.

In this case, I decided to call the call display number and reached the Home Charity Box (HCB) call centre located in St. Catharines, Ont. This centre works with charities and non-profit organizations. In this case, the centre identified the Canadian Wildlife Federation as the agency they are representing.

I e-mailed the CWF Friday afternoon to notify them that their agency name has been linked to the CRA scam and would no doubt be interested in this security breach.
