Thank-you Jennifer and Terry Roberts for writing a letter to the editor (The NEWS, May 19) about taking in refugees from a country other than Syria.
A previous letter to the editor was unsympathetic to an ethnic group who has been terrorized for decades. If anyone deserves a chance to a better life, it is this group.
To deny someone the right to a better life because they cannot read or write is wrong. We are a kind and caring nation, let’s not forget that fact.
I for one am really excited for this group of refugees, the Karen people, to arrive into our wonderful community here in Oceanside.
