We need trains

It is interesting and disappointing to note that both Parksville and Qualicum Beach councils do not approve of the E&N resuming service.

Railroads are one of the cheapest and safest transportation methods for commuters and freight. If you total the amount it costs to operate cars and trucks with the amount of accidents on our roads (not counting deaths and suffering) it can be astronomical.

Another thing I read was with the president of Southern Railway, the company operating the railroad for the Island Corridor Foundation, is that the E&N is safe. He should be someone who has intimate knowledge and responsibility of railroading.

We already have a precious infrastructure, why destroy it? The CPR should have handed it over to us in excellent condition.
