100 years of QB golf

Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and there is lots going on.

Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and to that end Kathy Lennox wants to remind members and former members that there is lots going on.

The season opened Monday, April 14 with a Hat Bee Hive of Activity tournament.

On Friday, May 10, QBMGC marks the opening of its new 3rd green (the Centennial Green), at 11 a.m.

“We are anticipating a good turnout,” said Lennox, explaining that in keeping with the centennial “many members will be dressed in period costumes for all events, so the events will be very colourful. All events will be open to the public.”

On Tuesday, June 4 there will be a Strawberry Tea and presentation on General Noel Money by the Qualicum Beach Historical Society and dedication of the cairn to celebrate the club’s 100th anniversary.

Saturday, June 10, will see the  Evans Wasson Couples Tournament (call the Pro Shop at 250-752-6312) for t-times and period costumes.

Saturday, July 20, marks the Heritage Golf Game — a 9-hole Texas scramble replete with hickory golf clubs, followed by a gala four-course banquet which is also open to public starting at 6 p.m. with music by Ron Hadley. Tickets are $45 per person, or $360 for a table of eight, and available at the pro shop.
