Three-on-three hoops will again be featured during BC Youth Week activities in the region in May.

The Arrowsmith Community Recreation Association (ACRA) is hosting the second 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament to be held at the Coombs Fairgrounds Activity Building Gym, located on 1014 Ford Road, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on May 2.

Teams can enter the tournament free of charge.

It is open to junior (13 to 15 years old) and senior (16 to 18 years old) players - boys and girls.

Teams can register on facebook at Arroswmith Community Recreation Association or by emailing ACRA recreation coordinator Jessica McLaren at jessicapmclaren@gmail.com

The inaugural tournament last year drew close to 10 teams and organizers are expecting more to come out this year. It is going to be limited to 16 teams only so register your team early.

“The ACRA is excited to once again participate in the Regional District of Nanaimo’s BC Youth Week activities, May 1st-7th,” said Kim Longmuir, ACRA recreation coordinator.

“The best part is that our 3-on-3 tournament is free, with huge thanks to the generous support from ACRA, the RDN, Coombs Old Country Market and many volunteers.”

All levels of basketball experience are welcome, said Longmuir.

“Grab your friends, register, and come on out for a fast-paced, fun and friendly evening of basketball and yummy food,” said Longmuir.

There will only be two divisions junior and seniors. Co-ed teams are also welcome. There will be prizes for teams in the top two in each division.

Players will also be treated to free pizza and cookies. Water bottles will also be available.
