Oceanside’s Bantam rep Generals came from two goals down to beat the Comox Valley Chiefs 4-3 at Oceanside Place Saturday in Vancouver Island tiering-round action.
The hosts were trailing 3-1 midway through the second period when Isaac Larocque-Wall scored to bring the Generals to within one, and Landon Dziadyk scored his second of the game just over two minutes later to tie it up 3-3.
Landon struck again with 8:27 left in the third for the hat trick and game-winner off great assists from Aslan Lacouvee and Noah Seselja.
On Sunday the Bantam Reps made the trip down Island where they played Juan de Fuca to a 2-2 tie.
Eli Adamowski and Nolan Young tallied for Oceanside in that one.
That draw lifts the young Generals preseason record to 2-0-1 with two tiering round games remaining (Friday in Nanaimo, then back home Sunday). eague play starts the Oct. 26/27th weekend.
“I think the kids are starting to gel together and play as a team. They put a great effort out today and it paid off for them,” Oceanside head coach Mike Seselja said Saturday, adding goalie James Brendeland “had an absolutely stellar game, and was a big part of the win today.”
According to OMHA rep coordinator Kelly Williams there are about 50 kids playing rep hockey on four teams in Oceanside this season — one Peewee team, two Bantam Teams and a Midget team. OMHA also has another 17 young players suiting up with the Atom Selects which is considered a development team.
