Baseball training moves indoors

A whole raft of baseball skills will be taught at annual training camp

hat Oceanside Minor Baseball (OMB) is gearing up for its winter development programs for Mosquitoes and Peewees.

According to OMB president Mike Parlow, “this indoor baseball workout program will run Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m., Feb 2 through to March 8 at Qualicum Beach Elementary School.

Players will participate in the following drills and practices over the course of the program:

• Hitting: Soft toss, Tee work, Stance & Techniques, Dartfish Hi-Speed Video Analysis.

• Pitching: Balance and technique, Working out of the Stretch, Pick-off moves.

• Catching: Receiving, Blocking balls, Defending against stolen base attempts.

• Fielding: Footwork, Glove positioning, Infield and Outfield Technique.

The program will be instructed by OMBA Coaches Kurt Bowles and Andy MacDonald with Parksville Royals pitching coach Jim Seredick handling pitching instruction.
