Black Press has signed on as the title sponsor of this year’s Van Isle 360 International Yacht Race, giving its readers the inside passage on the big event as it unfolds.
A true test of for man and boat, the Van Isle 360 is a biennial, 580 nautical mile point-to-point race circumnavigating the wild and rugged coast of Vancouver Island. Sailed in ten legs (including a stop in French Creek), the course provides inshore, offshore and overnight sailing “through some of the most stunning and challenging waters on the planet.”
According to a recent news release, community newspapers will chart a course alongside sailing yachts from across the Pacific Northwest for the Black Press Van Isle 360° 2013 International Yacht Race.
With a race organizer in place, Black Press announced its sponsorship of the event Monday, 15 April 2013.
Formerly known as the Cadillac Van Isle 360°, the newly named event will still start and finish in Nanaimo as it has since 1999 when Nanaimo yachters Wayne Gorrie and Janine Bell organized the competition.
