Busy Parksville lawn bowling season

From Canada Day to War Amps, free events and play for everyone.

The Parksville Lawn Bowling Club’s schedule is getting tight as it heads into the busy summer peak season.

This Saturday (June 29) PLBC hosts the Open Tenderfoot Triples.

“Watch our new bowlers play against other mid-Island clubs,” said PLBC’s Carol Bucyk. Play gets underway at 8:45 a.m. and goes all day.

On Canada Day, Monday July 1, the club  hosts its annual War Amps fundraiser for CHAMPS (child amputees).

“We put the fun in fundraising,” said Bucyk. The day gets underway at 1 p.m.  Red and white will be in evidence everywhere  for this event.”

From July 5 - July 7 PLBC will host its Open Mixed Pairs tournament with games at 9 and 11 a.m., and 1 and 3 p.m. each day.

“Clubs from up and down mid-Island and beyond take part in this thrilling championship.”

July 13-14 sees the players take to the greens for the Club Mixed Pairs tournament. Club members begin play at 9 a.m. in this two day event.

In the meantime, Bucyk wants to remind the public that “we enjoy having visitors to the club.  They’re always welcome to come out and see what this game is about.  Check out the events and tournaments,” she said. “We’d love to see you here.”

The club is located at 149 E. Stanford, across from Parksville Elementary and behind Stanford Place.

Admission is always free.
