Duncan dominates Parksville curling A final

Parksville Curling Club’s 10th annual Summer Bonspiel is in the can, and like the winter rains, the start of league play is just around the corner.

“It went really good,” event co-chair Jim Hoffman said after, pointing out there was “some very good curling, there were a couple of six enders scored.”

In Sunday’s playoffs it was an all-Duncan A Event final with Wes Craig knocking off the Kondal rink.

In the B Event final Hozak from Nanaimo edged Parksville’s Cheryl Noble.

Parksville Curling Club ice maker Tim Kottsieper and company won the C Event final with a win over the Dave Douglas rink from Powell River that included dad, two daughters and second cousin Ron Boag from Parksville.

The Stechishen’s from Red Lake, Ont. — a dad and son who here on the Island for the Four Foot curling camp in Parksville — teamed up with two local ladies (Eileen Leachman and Judy Pearson) to beat the Ray Michell team from Comox.

Last year’s A winner Randy Veitch from Comox failed to make the prize table getting beat Sunday morning.
