Generals make undisciplined Lake Cowichan Kraken pay in 4-1 VIJHL victory

Gens score three successive power-play goals in win

The Quality Foods Oceanside Generals sank the Lake Cowichan Kraken 4-1 in Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League action at Oceanside Place on Sunday (Oct. 17).

It was a close game with the Kraken grabbing the lead 1-0 in the second period. But in the final frame, the Generals made the Kraken pay for their undisciplined play as they scored three successive power-play goals and one short-handed goal to earn the win.

Scorers for the Generals were Sean Brendeland Miles Carson, Carter Johnson and Dylan McCormick.

Goalie Aaron Kaner earned the win making 35 saves.

The Generals also played against league-leaders Campbell River Storm on Saturday at home. Trailing 2-1 in the first period, the lights went out at the arena and the game had to be postponed.

This week the Generals face the surging Comox Valley Glacier Kings on Friday, Oct. 22 at Oceanside Place at 7 p.m. Then on Saturday, Oct. 23, they host the Campbell River Storm at 7 p.m.
