Hammerfest is fast approaching and organizers are looking for a few good people.

From the desk of Guy Gauvin comes a shout-out to all current and former supporters of Arrowsmith Mountain Bike Club races that the big annual Hammerfest Downhill goes Sunday May 22 from and the Hammerfest XC the following Sunday.

Hammerfest is considered one of the most challenging downhill courses in B.C. It has loads of history and has attracted some big names over the years.

It’s also a big race to host, and to that end AMBC is looking for:

• 3 drivers with CLASS 4 drivers licences (to drive 15 passenger shuttle vans)

• 3 certified first-aid attendants with access to first aid supplies and equipment

• 3 drivers with ordinary CLASS 5 licences (to drive bike shuttle trucks)

Plus, a multitude of other volunteers to assist with race marshaling, timing and other tasks as required.

“We can’t pay you,” said Gauvin, AMBC treasurer and local booster for the sport, “but we will feed you a good lunch and we think you will have a good time participating in one of Parksville’s most exciting cycling events.”
