Ballenas Secondary alum earns team honour after pulling down game-high 11 rebounds in Canada West play

Ballenas Secondary School alum Chelsey Hoey was selected the TRU Bookstore/McDonalds’ Player of the Game Friday after hauling down a game-high 11 rebounds and adding six points for the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack women’s basketball team.

The 5-foot-11 sophomore forward from Parksville added two blocked shots, one steal and one assist in 30 minutes of play as the Wolfpack fell 60-49 to the UBC-Okanagan Heat in a Canada West conference game in Kamloops.

Hoey ranks second in Canada West in rebounding with 9.4 boards per game despite playing off the bench for the Wolfpack (5-12 overall, 2-6 CWC). Her scoring average of 6.6 points per game ranks fourth on the team.
