The Arrowsmith Tennis Club recently held its last tournament of the season.

Emerging as this year’s singles club champion was John Hylton-Foster, who beat Rick Johnson 6-1, 6-1 in the final.

In consolation final, Hans Laue bested Don Lefler 6-7, 7-6, 7-5.

There were no entries for the women’s singles. In the doubles, however, the tandem of Lis Bang and Erica Monderman beat Jill Trelawny and Shelley Oslie 6-3, 7-5 to claim this year’s title. In the consolation round, Sue Rehill and Renee Guenette won by forfeit.

In the men’s doubles, Loren Guenette and Bill Majercsik won in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 against Rick Johnson and Greg Bach to etch their name in this year’s trophy.

In the consolation final, Ron Olcen and Ian Wood beat Gary Kaita and Patrick Plichon 6-1, 6-1.

In the mixed doubles, Trelawny and Bach made amends for their second-place finishes in the women’s and men’s doubles by outlasting Debra Jensen and Majercsik in a three setter 4-6, 7-6 and 6-4.

In the consolation round, Jill McCaffery and Plichon beat the husband and wife tandem of Niels and Lis Bang 7-6, 4-6, and 6-4.

This Saturday, the club will hold its court party that includes fun games such as king and queen of the court challenge, skills competition and round-robin of mixed doubles mini tennis.
