Jr. Royals hit Parksville

The future of the Royals will be on display this weekend

The North Island Royals AAA Bantam Baseball team will be taking the field for the first of two stops in Parksville this weekend.

This Saturday, the Junior Royals will play Vancouver Community at Inouye-Wallace Field at Springwood Park, which will be a double header.

The first pitch is slated for noon with the back end of the double header kicking off at 3 p.m.

There will be a 50/50 draw along with the chance to see the future of the Parksville Royals. Local products Kiran Carcary, Kieran Bowles and Ethan Christensen are all going to be in the lineup and are excited to be playing in their hometown of Parksville.

The North Island Royals are made up of 13 players from five baseball associations that play a 38 game schedule. Players come from Powell River, Parksville, Port Alberni, Comox Valley and Campbell River.

After being on the road for the month of April, the Junior Royals had their home opener in Port Alberni last Sunday where they earned a split against the Victoria Black.

In their first game of a double header, the bats came alive, which produced a 4-1 victory for the Royals. The second game wasn’t so kind to the Junior Royals, as Victoria came away with a 12–3 win.
