Junior elite golfers are in Parksville

CN Future Links program slated to start on May 10 in Parksville

From the links a reminder Parksville’s Morningstar Golf Club plays host to yet another prestigious event this week as some of the top junior golfers from across Western Canada converge on the challenging course for the Golf Canada (RCGA) and the 2012 CN Future Links (Pacific) Championship for junior golfers, 18 and under.

According to Morningstar’s Mike Loftus, the big annual showcase features a field of 99 of the elite junior golfers (male and female) from across western Canada as well as some of the Canadian National Jr. Team members from eastern Canada.

The event starts Thursday, May 10 with a skills competition starting around 9:30 a.m. followed by practice rounds for all players.

The serious competition starts bright and early Friday morning with the first group of players teeing of at 7:30 a.m., and the last players teeing off at 12:30 (expected to finish play at around 5 p.m.).

The competition is 54 holes with the final two rounds being played Saturday and Sunday. The winners will be crowned at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

 

Over 70 of the players will be coming from off island with a good number from the Mainland and Alberta.
