Mount Washington has finally been given the green light to fire up the chairs and open runs for the season.

After getting a good amount of snow over the weekend, Mount Washington’s alpine operations opened Sunday.

The mountain received over 60 cm of snow over the weekend, which brings the mid-mountain base to 110 cm.

The plan is to open the Hawk Chair, Whiskey Jack Chair and Easy Acres beginner area with all Magic Carpets operating.

The new Tube Park will also open with three lanes. The nordic centre will have trails for snowshoeing, skate and classic cross-country skiing.

The opening is good news for people with season’s passes, some of whom made it to Whistler where their passes were being honoured.
