The Oceanside Generals are bringing a bit of country when they host the Kerry Park Islanders in a Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League game on Jan. 25.

The Generals will feature a performance during game intermissions by Canadian country singer-songwriter Tony Stevens, who was nominated in 2024 as CCMA Songwriter of the Year.

Generals manager Rick Hannibal said they're excited to have Stevens belting some of his hit songs that include 'Whiskey in Colorado,' which was hit No. 8 on the Canadian MediaBase charts and was named 'one to watch and future star' by Rogers Media and iHearth Radio.

"He is all over JRFM and the country station on the Island, Raven, and he will be performing here," said Hannibal. "This is a fun thing that we do to draw extra fans in here. We've been doing it for years and it's been very good in the past. The people that we've had performed for us have done very well in their careers. Tony is the biggest one we've had so it will be good.

Hannibal advised to get tickets early. Call 250-819-6409 or email ogensticckets@gmail.com. Tickets will also be sold at the gate prior to the game.
