The Save-On-Foods Oceanside Generals outshot the visiting Comox Valley Glacier Kings 39-18 but still ended up losing 6-3 in Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League action on Friday night at Oceanside Place.

It was the first loss of the offence-oriented Generals, who suffered some crucial lapses in defence.

Trailing 6-1, the Generals made a strong comeback in the third and were able to cut the lead in the half. But the Comox Valley defence survived the onslaught to earn the win and remain the only unbeaten team in the VIJHL’s North Division.

Scorers for the Generals were Brady O’Brien, Nolan Wyatt and Brendan Carlson. Goalie Ashton Sadauskas stopped five of eight shots and was substituted early in the second period by rookie Matthew Spencer-Dahl.

The Generals hope to bounce back from their first loss when they host the Westshore Wolves at Oceanside Place tonight at 7:15 p.m. The last time both teams played each other, the Generals won 5-3.
