The Oceanside Generals are on a roll. The team has now won nine games in a row.

They added to their win streak last week, travelling down Island to pick up a 5-0 shutout against the Peninsula Panthers on Friday, Jan. 13. It was the first-ever VIJHL shutout for goaltender Michael Hutchison, who made 19 saves in the win. Scorers for the Generals on Friday were Carter Johnson (two goals), Tyler Gyori, Nolan Kehoe and Miles Carson.

The team travelled to Comox on Saturday to face the Glacier Kings and notched an 8-2 win. Johnson added four more goals, while Dante Paziuk (two goals), Jacob Thomas and Gyori rounded off the scoring. Goalie Ashton Sadauskas made 24 saves in the win.

In a video posted to the team’s social media after Saturday’s game, Gyori said the team is having fun right now.

“It feels great, the boys are just rolling,” he said. “We’ve got amazing goalies, good defence, we’re buzzing on offence. It’s really fun to play.”

Next up, the Generals will be travelling to Port Alberni on Jan. 18 to face the Bombers, then to Lake Cowichan to face the Kraken. The team will be back on home ice on Saturday, Jan. 21 as the Peninsula Panthers come to town for Hockey Day in Canada. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. and all minor hockey players wearing their team jerseys will receive free admission and will be entered to win a prize.
