The Oceanside Reds Tadpole 9U team ended their season with a bronze-medal finish at the Nanaimo Summer Smash Tournament.

The Reds defeated Aldergrove in a nailbiter, narrowly edging the Mainland team 13-12 in the last inning to earn the bronze.

“It was a hot and long weekend but the kids fought hard,” said parent Nicole Jason Matthewson.

The Reds also took home the silver in the home run challenge. They were in close battle with the Nanaimo Pirates who ended up winning with six homers against the Reds five.

Emerson Mant paced the Reds with four homers and Ryder Matthewson had out-of-the-park blast.
