The Parksville Curling Club throws open its doors this weekend for its 10th annual Summer Bonspiel.
The big annual runs Aug. 15-18 and will feature 26 teams from as far away as Pennsylvania.
First draw goes tonight (Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. There will be games throughout the day — play resumes Friday at noon and 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday with the finals starting 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to the club’s Jim Hoffman, this year’s field will feature a number of competitive curlers including B.C. mixed champion skip Wes Craig and his wife Roz, who was Curler of the Year two years ago in B.C.
There is no admission to watch the summer ‘spiel, “and everyone is welcome to come out and kickoff the start of the curling season.”
There’s a concession and bar on site.
