Thirteen teams from up and down Vancouver Island and as far away as the Lower Mainland turned out at Springwood Park last weekend for the inaugural Royals’ Oceanside Peewee/Bantam tournament, which proved to be a big hit with the players.

“The tournament was a great success and mother nature cooperated,” Oceanside Minor Baseball president Mike Parlow said after, adding the Oceanside team’s “battled and had fun,” but it was the guests who walked away with the championships in both divisions as the Nanaimo Angels won the Peewee tournament and the Comox Valley Cardinals won the Bantam.
