PUTTING ON A BRAVE face at the first aid tent on Sunday was Laura Byrne from Sooke. In this, her first time tackling the Qualicum Beach Triathlon, Byrne took a spill on her bike during her second and final lap. The crash aside, “I have to say the public works guys that were there... fantastic. They would not let me quit.” We asked if Laura was OK after her spill. “Oh yeah,” she said. “I need a new bike though. I wrecked it.”
