The Arrowsmith Cycling Club aims to stage the annual Cross On The Commons in Qualicum Beach in October.

“It is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 3,” said Roy Kregosky, ACC vice-president. “As long as the COVID pandemic in B.C. continues to trend downward and things get back to normal, this will go ahead as planned.”

In 2019, the cyclocross event drew more than 400 racers of all ages and Kregosky expects a similar high number of participants if the race goes ahead as planned.

“I would imagine a similar turnout as people continue to get excited about getting together,” said Kregosky.

The Cross On The Commons will be the second race in the Cross On The Rocks series that features six to seven races.

The Qualicum Beach race is open to beginners, intermediate and experts with a special shortened circuit for youth. It will take place at the QB Civic Centre as in previous years and on a similar and familiar circuit.

Kregosky said nothing special or new is being planned for this year, they simply want things to get back to normal and be able to race.
