Registration is now open for the challenging but fun Quality Foods Qualicum Beach Triathlon that is set to take place on June 25.
The event is celebrating its 20th anniversary and this year it is designated as a Canada 150 Participaction. Organizer Jim Powell said the QB Triathlon has become a favourite here on the Island, attracting over 600 athletes that consist of competitive and also recreational participants.
“It’s a family, community-oriented event,” said Powell. “They all come back here because they have fun and that’s what we want them to experience.”
Those who want to enter the event can register on-line through www.qualicumbeachtriathlon.com, but paper registration is offered only to school groups. They can send their applications to Tri-Athletics Society, c/o #101-2164 Ridgemont Place, Nanaimo, V9T0C8, or drop it off at the Ravensong Aquatic Centre. The triathlon is divided into four sections - Tiny for ages 4 to 7 years old, Minor for ages 8-11 years old, Youth for 12-17 years old and adult for ages 18 and over.
