Results from Sea Soil Classic event in Parksville

Lawn bowling classic saw some tremendous form on the greens

Another Sea Soil Classic is in the books.

Parksville Lawn Bowling Club hosted the big annual recently. In the B Division, the top seeded team of Tom Renton, George Gibson and Ed Bryce from Nanaimo went undefeated through seven matches to claim the title, winning 25-6 in the final over the Qualicum Beach trio of Doug Ives, John Wilson and George Machin.  Third place went to the Parksville squad of Pat Kelly, Ken Bucyk and Mick Banks, while fourth was claimed by the upstart team of Brian Michell, Jim Paterson and Scott Prior, also of Parksville.

In the A Division, the first ranked team of Gary Robinson, Ryan Uchman and Keith Baker of Parksville stumbled in the morning for their first loss, but regained form for a 15-8 win in the final over last year’s Champions, Stu McNaughton, Jim Muir and Oliver Fabris, also of Parksville.  Third place went to another Parksville team, Martin Fereday, Alan Brunskill and Ron Davis, while fourth place went to the mainland/lower island squad of German Santana, Craig Wilson and Adam Kaufman.

Fund-raising during the weekend netted $400 for the Oceanside Hospice, “with thanks to the local businesses and club members that kindly donate prizes to the club for this special event.”
