The annual Mamas versus Papas Challenge Cup is set to take place on July 20.

It’s a classic slo-pitch game of senior women against senior men. It takes place at the Parksville Community Park near the lacrosse box at 11 a.m.

To date, the women have bested their male opponents four out of five times but the men are determined this year to retake the trophy from the current champions.

“I encourage the public to watch these quality seniors playing the game,” said Randy White, games organizer. “If you are 60, 70 or 80 and feel you are through with sports then come out and get motivated when you watch these two all-star teams from our area.”

The game and drinks are made available courtesy of the Parksville Indoor Slo-Pitch League, Parksville Senior Athletics Group, Parksville Golden Oldies Sports Association and M & R Trust.

“These seniors are well-prepared, very able and determined to take the Challenge Cup away so I encourage everyone to come and enjoy,” White said.
