This is how lawn bowlers roll

Parksville club invites the public to drop in see how the game is played

The Parksville Lawn Bowling Club (PLBC) is once again in high gear prepping for another season of bowls on the mid-Island.

Crews of club volunteers have been eagerly preparing the flower gardens, viewing areas and most importantly, the beautifully manicured greens in anticipation of the club’s annual two-day open house and opening day tournament later this month.

In mid-April, the club had staged its annual garage sale.

Eager shoppers and bargain hunters alike filled the club house searching out that special something from the many items on sale.

The money raised from the well-attended event will help keep both the clubhouse and greens well maintained.

On Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21, the club will be hosting its open house.

People are encouraged to drop by between 1 and 4 p.m. on either day.

Coaches and club members will be on hand to answer questions about the sport, facilities and other activities offered at the club in the off-season.

Make sure to wear flat soled shoes and comfortable clothes and the PLBC will supply the equipment.

Participants will also be able to actually bowl on some of the very best greens on the Island. Come and discover why lawn bowling is so much fun and why it is a sport that can last a lifetime.
