The Quality Foods Oceanside Generals are in a deep hole, after losing 2-1 to the Peninsula Panthers in Game 3 of their Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League final at Oceanside Place on Sunday night.
The Generals trail the best-of-seven series 3-0.
It was a close game with Greyson Weme scoring the only goal for the Generals, who just didn’t have any puck luck as they saw a number of shots at close range hit the goalpost. Goalie Ashton Sadauskas had a solid game as he turned away 31 of the 33 shots he faced.

It was the Panthers that took the initial lead as they capitalized on a power-play opportunity close to the midway mark with Logan Speirs netting the goal at 9:54. The Generals were able to hold the Panthers scoreless after that and were able to tie it up on Weme’s marker in the second period.
But in the third, a lapse in the Generals defence allowed Speirs to score at the 12:41 mark and it proved to be the winning goal.
The Generals are now in a must-win situation when Game 4 of the series moves to the Panorama Recreation Centre on Monday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m.
