VIJHL: Panthers take 2-0 lead over Oceanside Generals following 6-1 triumph

The Quality Foods Oceanside Generals are down 2-0 in their best-of-seven Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League final series after losing 6-1 to the host Peninsula Panthers on Friday night.

The Generals were able to score just one lone goal netted by Greyson Weme in the first period as the Panthers dominated much of the action.

The Panthers took the lead after Payton Braun and Riley Braun each scored to put the host team up 2-0. Weme scored with less than a minute left in the period to the cut the lead in half.

The Generals got shutout for the rest of the game with Panthers scoring four unanswered goals, two from Logan Speirs, one from Riley Braun and Ethan Lingard.

The Generals are hoping to bounce back in Game 3 Sunday at Oceanside Place (7 p.m.).
