The Quality Foods Oceanside Generals saw their seven-game Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League winning streak come to an end.

On Wednesday (Feb. 4), the Port Alberni Bombers cooled off the red-hot Gens with a 5-3 win.

The game also saw the end of a three-game shutout streak for Oceanside goalkeeper Matthew Spencer Dahl.

The Bombers got off to a flying start when Nathan MacDonald scored 12 seconds into the first period. It woke the Generals up and got their offence going. It paid off as Parker Klippenstein scored to end the period tied 1-1.

The Generals continued to dominate offensively in the second and scored two more goals, from Carter Johnson and Jacob Thomas, to make it 3-1. But in the third, the Gens crumbled as the Bombers scored four unanswered goals, led by Brady McIsaac who scored twice. Grayson Erickson and Carson Steel added singles.

The Generals, who outshot the Bombers 44-20, will get a chance to atone for the loss when they face Port Alberni again on Saturday, Feb. 5 at Oceanside Place.
