A foot of fresh powder over the weekend at Mount Washington provided a soft landing for those who are still learning how to master skiing despite their physical and mental challenges.

QUALICUM BEACH — The 18th annual Invitational Carpet Bowling Tournament, sponsored by Qualicum Beach Pharmasave’s co-owners Sandy Conn and John Beever, was held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, when a local team from the Bradley Centre took second place to a visiting team from Duncan, who won all five of their games.

The Kondors continue to show plenty of pluck, but it was the Golden Eagles clawing out a wild 44-42 win at The Nest in AA Senior Girls basketball action last Thursday.

On Thursday they thumped the Thunderbirds 79-39.

Nanoose Bay Wheelchair racer Michelle Stilwell returned home from her full medal showing at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in New Zealand last Thursday; exhausted and still a bit miffed, but no less proud and a little wiser for the experience.

Preparations are well underway for the 2011 season, but the 2010 BC Athletics AGM and Awards Banquet, held January 29 in Richmond, highlighted the fact that 2010 was an excellent year for the Oceanside Track and Field Club.
