Sunny skies and summer vibes have made this year’s Parksville Beachfest one to remember, but much more is still to come for August 2024.
Fun times await for every member of the family at Vancouver Island’s go-to summer festival, from sensational sand sculptures to LOTS of music (dancing shoes very much encouraged!).
What’s coming up? Here are 4 must-do activities in and around Parksville’s Community Park & Beach through Aug. 18!
- See the sandcastles – This year’s Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Exhibition is on display from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily throughAug. 18 – your chance to see these amazing sculptures up close. And on Aug. 16 & 17, you can see the display in a whole new light with the Coastal Community Credit Union Light Up!, welcoming guests from dusk to 11 p.m.
- Enjoy FREE local entertainment – In addition to the Party City Buskers, who’ll entertain the crowds from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. daily at the beachfront gazebo, the Tim Hortons Summer Concert Series continues Aug. 16 & 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Parksville Outdoor Theatre. Taking the stage Aug. 16 is The Joints, with classic rock covers spanning the top bands of the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, followed by The Fabulous B Sides Aug. 17, promising a show filled with “Rock. Pop. Soul… and a whole lotta sass!”
- Rock the Park – Building on last year’s sensational event, the weekend-long Mid Island Co-op Rock the Park Music Festival returns to the stage Aug. 9 to 11. The electrifying three-day festival is filled with dynamic performances by some of the best tribute bands in the business, paying tribute to artists including the Rolling Stones, Def Leppard, Shania Twain, The Chicks, Queen, Buddy Holly, Tragically Hip, Bon Jovi, Chicago and the Beatles. Tickets are $45 for a single day or $80 for a three-day pass (plus GST and fees), with discounted pricing for youth; children 12 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult.
