PQB News earns nod as finalist for award as top community newspaper

The PQB News is a finalist for a Ma Murray Award as B.C.’s best community newspaper in its circulation class.

The B.C. and Yukon Community NewsMedia Association recently named its finalists for the 2023 awards. Winners will be announced at a gala event at North Vancouver’s Polygon Gallery on April 20.

The PQB News is one of three finalists in the general excellence award in the 11,001 to 21,000 circulation category. The other finalists are the North Delta Reporter and the Coast Reporter.

Longtime PQB News reporter/photographer Michael Briones is up for a pair of individual awards. Briones is a finalist in the photo essay award category and in the best sports photo category. PQB News/VI Free Daily editor Philip Wolf is a finalist in the best columnist category.
