Michael Briones

In April of 2017, I had the privilege of rejoining The NEWS team from the Comox Valley Echo. My earlier experience with The NEWS dates back to 1997, when I covered sports for the publication.

My journey in the newspaper industry began in 1981 as a proofreader for the English-language Standard in Hong Kong. Since then, I've embarked on diverse roles in various newspapers, covering everything from police and government to sports and general assignments. My career has taken me to different corners of the country, from Ontario to Northern B.C. and now, back to Mid-Vancouver Island, where I continue to contribute to the field I'm passionate about.
