March 8 marked the 113th annual International Women’s Day! What better way to celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of women in our communities than by acknowledging the vital roles they play in the success of many of our local businesses.
“M&N Mattress & Sofa Gallery’s continued success in delivering an award-winning sales and service experience is a direct result of our hardworking team, including the heart of our team—three dedicated and hardworking women: Neelam, Natasha and Theresa,” says M&N Mattress & Sofa Gallery owner, Mark Nagra.
Mark’s wife and co-owner, Neelam Nagra, tirelessly oversees and streamlines the day-to-day processes required to exceed all of their customers’ expectations. Putting her business administration management diploma to work as a vital team leader for the entire company, she manages daily planning, product ordering, maintains strong relationships with a diverse group of suppliers, and much more.
Not far behind in terms of experience and accomplishments is Mark and Neelam’s daughter, Natasha Nagra. (Fun fact: If you’ve ever wondered what the ‘M’ and ‘N’ in M&N Mattress and Sofa Gallery stand for, it’s the initials of the Nagra kids, Matthew and Natasha, who’ve both worked at M&N in their mid-teens).
Having played an instrumental role over the past four years, Natasha has been learning how to fill her mother’s shoes and embracing her own accomplishments on the sales floor. She also facilitates product delivery logistics and weekly after-sales follow-up, among her many other day-to-day tasks.
The final piece of the female powerhouse that keeps M&N running at full steam is the M&N Sofa Gallery Store Manager, Theresa Parpa-Gurka. Theresa can often be seen hustling back and forth between the M&N Mattress store and the M&N Sofa gallery, conveniently located just steps away. The sofa gallery has recently expanded its showroom (taking over the old laundromat space) to include more top-selling Canadian brands like Palliser, Stylus, and Decor-Rest, keeping Theresa busier than ever.
“As a collective team, we’ve made tremendous strides in our 23-year history here in Parksville,” Mark says. “It’s no secret our awards and reviews, coupled with our repeat and referral business, have been a direct result of the leadership, success, and dedication of our valued female team members, who are always going above and beyond to deliver the very best to our loyal and future customers!”
